Personalising your Arden Home

When it comes to building a home that works for you and your family, flexibility is the name of the game. Unlike most other builders, we pride ourselves on offering genuine design flexibility to our customers – because every family is unique and it’s important to us that your new home reflects that. While a lot of customers are happy to stick with our set design options, we also relish the challenge of helping you personalise your home design to best suit you.

We’ve made a round-up of some of the most popular design modifications requested by our customers, so that you can get inspired when it comes to personalising your own home design.

Add a shower to the powder room

Adding a shower to the powder room is one of our most popular upgrades – it’s practical, inexpensive, and turns the powder room into an extra bathroom where you can have a quick freshen up when you arrive home from work, or a fully functional guest space for overnight visitors.

Garage extension or workshop addition

Extensions to the garage space are popular with customers who have a need for additional storage, or a work space within the garage. It’s less expensive per square metre than the internal rate, presenting a cost-effective way to gain some functional space outside the home to use as you please.

Extra space under the stairs

As the demand for storage increases, the cupboard under the stairs is becoming hot property. Use it as a go station, extra storage, or create a magical reading nook for the kids.

Built-in desks

Last year’s lockdown highlighted the importance of having a space set aside for work, and we’ve seen a resulting influx of requests for built-in desks and studies from our clients. Whether it’s used for study, work, or as a catch-all for makeup and jewellery, we anticipate this will be a key consideration for families building new homes for years to come.

Dual master bedroom

If you’ve got more than one generation living under one roof,  having an additional master bedroom with ensuite is essential to ensure a harmonious household. Likewise, if you frequently have guests staying in your home, a dual master affords them their own private space to relax and unwind.

Home gym space

The pandemic forced us to squeeze as much as possible out of every square inch of our homes last year, and that trend is continuing in 2021, with increasing demand for home gym spaces. A popular request is converting the rumpus or home theatre into a practical home gym. As more and more people transition to working from home at least some of the time, having fitness equipment at home is allowing our customers to make better use of time they might otherwise spend commuting.

Prayer rooms

Prayer or worship forms a regular part of the day for many of our customers, and prayer rooms are becoming more popular as a private, dedicated space that’s always set up for prayer and reflection.

Increased laundry space

Trying to keep the laundry contained to one area of the home is an ongoing battle, especially for larger families, and we’re seeing a trend in bigger laundries to provide more space and avoid clean and dirty laundry encroaching on the rest of the home.

So there you have it folks – the most popular requests for home personalisation. If you’re ready to begin planning a new home of your own, we’d love to talk about how our award-winning designs and genuine flexibility can work for you.
