How We’re Responding To Supply Chain Challenges

10-02-2022

With empty shelves and purchase limits, a quick trip to the supermarket will confirm that we’re facing unprecedented supply chain issues.

With almost every industry impacted, we sat down with Director Dean Morrison to understand how it affects our clients, what they can expect, and how Arden’s managing the challenge.

“It’s important to paint a realistic picture here, so I’ll say this. In my 26 years in this industry, I’ve never seen anything quite like this.”

And while Dean acknowledges that’s a bold statement; he knows that clients deserve nothing less than full transparency and support.

So what’s happening, and how is it impacting the building process?

“There are a number of issues affecting on-site construction. There are supply issues, longer lead times for materials, a labour shortage partly off the back of closed borders, and widespread training delays within the industry. There are a lot of factors at play,” he explained.

“We’re seeing materials that once required a six-week lead period, now take up to 16 weeks.”

When asked about how the team is managing the challenge, Dean said, “We’re doing everything humanly possible to mitigate this. We’re talking every day with suppliers, we’re reprogramming our build plans regularly and controlling everything we possibly can. And if there is a delay beyond our control, we’re on the front foot about it.”

Dean shared that while transparent communication with clients has always been important, it’s especially crucial in this period. He explained that no two builds are the same when it comes to how or whether they’re impacted. As a result, Site Supervisors are especially focused on providing realistic timeframes and our Onsite Customer Service team are contacting clients with regular updates.

“Our Onsite Customer Service team is always just an email or call away, ready to act as a point of contact and support.”

He shared that the teams have been grateful for the patience and understanding of clients as supply chain issues are felt across the globe.

“At the end of the day, we’re all focused on the same thing: helping clients move into homes they love, as soon as they possibly can.”
